Flat B6 farewell dinner - 25th Aug

Last month, all of us were busy finding and viewing new flats. This week, most of us start to move out. **So much fun staying with all the guys in one flat for the past two months!

So here comes our farewell dinner. The meals are prepared by the guys (some are bought and baked cos they don't trust their own cooking skills). Haha. As for me, I'm the queen of the day. I only need to wait until 7pm to be served and eat (it's the day that I don't have to cook at all. So happy!)

Chinese herbal chicken soup cooked by hubby

Shrimp cocktail prepared by Pim

Reggae chicken by Chris

Baked cheese potato by Chris

Greek salad by Nikhil

My portion for the night

I ate a lot until our flatmate, Pim told me, "I'm quite impressed of the amount that you can eat and actually finished it". Haha. I know, I know. I'm impressed of myself too. I really enjoy eating.

Apple, raspberry, and *I don't know what's the other pie cos I'm too full to try more* pies baked by Tom

The handsome aspiring lawyer, Chris
(Haha. The girly pose is taken by hubby)

The handsome side of Chris

Nikhil, the PhD chemist and the shy Tom, the PhD physicist

"Bendamien", the Russian guy (simply spelled by me cos his name sounds like that to me) and the white T-shirt guy is a handsome friend of them from Kazakhstan

You won't get to see the pics of me and my hubby cos he is camera-shy. Haha. Very hard to ask him to take pic with me.

That's all for that night with the guys!

August babies rock!

Went to John's friend's house for bbq and birthday celebration last Saturday. A homely decorated house by a Malaysian couple working in Glasgow. The lovely young couple are Allen (from Penang) and Eva (from KL). So kind of them to welcome all of us to their house to play and eat.

The interior

We noticed that their house has a lot of CNY decor, somemore the decor is from cow year CNY. Haha. Typical Chinese us...lazy to take down the decor once we put it up

I was playing Wii games with my new friends inside the house while these few guys were busy bbq-ing for us. We came out to socialise after Eva told us to come out. Haha. Forgot to take pics of our yummy food cos my fingers were oily and all of us were busy eating.

These two beautiful cakes were specially baked by Susan

Our new flat

The main entrance to our flat upstairs. No lift is provided.
(Hehe...I'm happy cos I can exercise by climbing up and down the stairs)

Our flat is using prepaid electric service
(Same like our prepaid card for our hp, have to top-up once it finishes. The good news is this credit doesn't expire like the hp credit LOL)

Dining area with the big wide mirror

Living room

The bathroom

Our empty room

Our wardrobe
(I love it cos it has huge mirrors which I can see myself from head to toe)

This flat has a lot of mirrors until our new flatmate chose a room without a mirror. He doesn't want to scare himself.

As usual, I will add some flower elements into my room

Cut these scenery pics for hubby since he requested a scenery pic on this wall. I give him more than one scenery.

I cut out the 'teeth' edges for the pics (I measure, I draw, I cut). I have the time and patience to cut. Btw, I'm a perfectionist.

Hubby's Wall-e and Eve, my cowie from Malaysia, cute candle animals given by hubby, and my two newly bought cute egg cups

I love these two. So matching and they represents me and my hubby.

My plant from Tesco. Bought a few plants to decor the new flat cos want to see some greenery around.

Palm plant

 My new free plant

I got these from the roadside on my way to the church

They are so beautiful and colourful but they didn't last long. They said farewell to me as the season enters autumn.

At the moment, we are still staying in the hostel. We will move everything to the new flat once the broadband is set up! Cheerio

My birthday 7th August

 My surprised birthday cake

My yummy chocolate fudge birthday cake

7th August is my special day! My 1st birthday as wife... my 1st birthday in Glasgow... I even told my parents and hubby that I have a SIMPLE request for my birthday .... I only want 'kompia', 'kampua', and 'sio bee' for my birthday this year. Hahaha. I know it is impossible for me to have those food in Glasgow. Only joking with them.

My pretty roses made me even more attractive for my special day

My hubby brought me to Khublai Khan (Mongolian barbeque buffet). He said he wants to bring me to eat something special...something that I haven't tried before. Let's go and eat exotic species! Feel sorry cos we are too mean to eat them. But only once in a lifetime! (It's the 2nd time for hubby) Hohoho

*a short intro about the Mongolian place*
Khublai Khan was the grandson of the fearsome legend Genghis Khan, the founding father of the largest contiguous empire in history. Khublai was the Mongol emperor of China from 1259, and amongst other great feats was responsible for moving the capital of China to Khanbalik, or 'Cambuluc' (now the site of Beijing), hanging around with a young chap called Marco Polo while he was at it.

With Thai (hubby's labmate) and Winn (hubby's uni mate + our flatmate). My new friends from Thailand.

We chose the full feast (very expensive indeed!!)

Faster chose our starters and drinks

My green tea

Wah Ho
(Kangaroo Enchiladas, smothered in cheese and creme fraiche)

Khoor Shoor
(Cumin flavoured minced wild boar in a crispy pastry parcel served with a hot and sour sauce.
A traditional Mongolian dish)

 Gansukh
(Roasted yak ribs smothered in our chefs special bbq sauce)

My table number is '47'. I have to take my own number to the buffet table later.

This menu teaches us how to mix the sauce for the buffet meal

It's time to go to the buffet table after finishing the starters. *very excited*

Steps to follow when joining this Mongolian buffet:

1. Take your table number with you.

2. Take one mini wok and go to Counter 1 to scoop some rice, noodle or 'taugeh'.

3. Proceed to Counter 2 to take some vege.

Counter 2
Spring onion, shredded carrot, onion, water chestnut, mushroom, cucumber, tomato, capsicum etc

The nutritional information table
(I don't bother it at all cos I enjoy eating. Somemore this meal is so expensive so I must eat more)

No more shark meat served here

4. Go to Counter 3 to choose a selection of exotic meats.

Read those labels and take whichever meat you want to try

5. Then go to Counter 4 to add the herbs, spices and sauces on your own or follow the saucy menu attached on the wall.

6. Leave the wok on the cooking counter with your table number.

7. Go back to your seat and wait for it to be cooked and served.

Tada..this was my ready meal. I ate 5 bowls of these. I can eat a lot!

After satisfied eating the buffet meals, it's time for us to choose our deserts.

Gwai Ho
(Baileys & Chocolate Chip Ice Cream)

Luk Fu
(Warm Sticky Toffee Pudding with vanilla ice cream)
--This was the wrong order. The waitress took it away from hubby and changed. If I know, I would take few bites before it is taken away. Haha--

Ulan Gad
(Vanilla Creme Brulee)

Ga Fai
(Cappucino Mousse with Lemon Shortcake)
--Another wrong order cos initially I ordered 'Yum Tum' but this came. Nvm cos I'm in a good mood. Just eat it. Taste nice too--

Yum Tum
(Rich & Indulgent White Chocolate Cheesecake)

*photo-taking time*
