Easy Drink, Easy Go

*Sorry for my disappearing act from my blog. Been thinking a lot about other important things these days.*

Saw many Sibu ppl posted about the bubble drinks sold at this new place. Some even said have to queue up during peak hours. We gave it a try, but we shook our heads after drinking it.

Tried: Grass jelly milk tea, bubble milk tea, and oat milk tea
Verdict: Expensive and not nice.

Happy Dragon Year to all Chinese friends out there

I'm back to my hometown for this auspicious celebration. Happy to be back for the food, fireworks, family and friends. Despite the scorching weather - the heat, the sweat, I'm having a great time! It's good to be home!

CNY cookie

...baked by me

Doggy cookies

I bake these for CNY this year. Actually want to try a lot of recipes but due to expensive prices of butter and cream cheese in Msia, I omit my plan.

Recipe adapted from Happy Home Baking

180g butter, soften at room temperature
80g Horlicks
200g top flour/ cake flour/ low protein flour/ HK flour
25g cornflour
25g milk powder
100g chocolate chips - lesser should be ok cos can't finish so much
some chocolate rice
some Koko Krunch

Method
  1. Preheat oven to 140C (note: conventional oven mode). Line baking tray with baking paper and set aside.
  2. Sieve top flour, cornflour and milk powder.
  3. Cream butter and Horlicks for about 3 minutes at low speed (I use 'speed 1' for Kenwood hand mixer for 2 minutes). Don't overbeat.
  4. Put in top flour, cornflour and milk powder and beat for about 1 minute to form dough (note: cookie crumbles).
  5. Divide dough into 10g each. Put 3 chocolate chips into each piece of dough and roll into balls (note: I put 4 chocolate chips).
  6. Insert 2 pieces of Koko Krunch to form the "ears", 2 chocolate rice for "eyes", 1 chocolate chip for "nose".
  7. Bake at 140C for about 25 minutes. 5 to 10 minutes more depending on the oven. (note: I bake for 25 minutes for the conventional mode)
  8. Leave to cool on the wire rack before storing.

The main reason I went back earlier for CNY

... is for my daddy's birthday. I want to be reunited with the rest of my family members and celebrate it as one happy family. Mummy always emphasizes family ties are very important and I always bear that in mind.
